WHEN SHOULD I SEE A PEDIATRICIAN?

The first two years of a baby’s life are crucial for their growth and development and your pediatrician will need to keep tabs on how your baby is doing. That is why the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends well-check visits starting 3 to 5 days after birth and then at 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 24 months. After that, a yearly well-check is highly recommended to monitor your child’s health and development and to ensure that all vaccinations are current.

You should also see your pediatrician if your child is sick, developing a rash, or if there is any other concern that you are having about the health and welfare of your child.

PEDIATRIC INFECTIOUS DISEASE SPECIALISTS

A pediatric infectious disease specialist helps your child or teen who is dealing with any kind of an infection from bacteria, viruses, parasites, or fungus. If your child has persistent fevers, Medstar pediatric infectious disease specialists, can help identify the cause of the fevers.
